Decarbonisation is key to achieving global climate targets but will hinge on the development and wide-scale adoption of new climate tech. Despite significant progress, most technologies are not yet commercially available due to funding gaps, scaling challenges, and a lack of data on the risks these technologies pose.

As institutional investors and providers of risk management solutions, re/insurers can make important contributions to overcoming some of these hurdles. This report – the first in a two-part series – examines the climate tech landscape and identifies potential opportunities for the re/insurance industry in this space. The analysis is substantiated by insight from C-level insurance executives.
