2024 was a year of evolution for the Geneva Association. Lee Yuan Siong, Group Chief Executive & President of AIA Group, was appointed Chairman ahead of the General Assembly in Kyoto in May, while Lard Friese, CEO of Aegon, became Vice Chairman in November. We revamped our research agenda with the launch of two new work streams – Financial Inclusion and Macro & Geoeconomic Shifts – and expanded our events programme as we held our first in-person Digital Technologies Conference and took our Programme on Regulation & Supervision Seminar and Climate Change & Environment Conference to the US for the first time. We were also pleased to hold our first briefing with the media, which convened industry journalists for off-the-record discussions on key issues such as climate and cyber risks, longevity trends, and insurance protection gaps.
