Maryam Golnaraghi, Director of Climate Change & Environment at the Geneva Association, has been named Climate and Sustainability Champion of the Year 2026 by InsuranceERM, a publication covering risk and the insurance industry.
The award recognises Maryam's leadership in advancing research and strategic partnerships that highlight the critical role of insurers and reinsurers in addressing climate change, strengthening resilience and enabling investment in viable climate solutions.
Her work has demonstrated the value of engaging re/insurers early, alongside governments, industry and other stakeholders, to identify emerging exposures, improve insurability and develop innovative approaches to managing and sharing risks. These efforts have helped advance practical solutions for strengthening climate resilience and supporting industrial decarbonisation.
This award is recognition of an approach I have championed throughout my career: making climate and sustainability core business priorities and building strategic partnerships to think beyond conventional approaches and develop solutions.
